This timelessly elegant brass and walnut candle snuffer has been created by Werkstätte Carl Auböck exclusively for Cloon Keen.

The Werkstätte Carl Auböck was founded by Karl Auböck I as a metal workshop in 1912 in a Vienna. The creative output traversed several artistic movements and styles because of the fascinating life of the descendants of Karl I.

Carl Auböck II was a student at the Weimar Bauhaus and then went on to take over the business. Carl II united functional modernism with Austrian craft, creating the visual style of the Werkstätte Carl Auböck.

In the 1950s, Carl III studied architecture in the US where he befriended modernist design luminaries such as Charles and Ray Eames and Walter Gropius. On returning to Vienna, influenced by the modernist design revolution the workshop created a new chapter by making exquisitely crafted objects in brass and bronze mixed with elemental materials such as leather, wood and horn.

The spirit of true craftsmanship of Werkstätte Carl Auböck has been passed down through four generations, now in the hands of Carl IV who runs the atelier today.
